Subject: FW: The Shoppes at Sand Key (shoppes)
Spoke to Ms. Musselwhite and I told her I
would pass on her concerns to the rest of the council.
Dear Mayor Hibbard, I am writing to you in opposition of any
proposed zoning change for 1201 and 1241 Gulf Blvd that would increase the
population density of the land use at that site. The site currently houses
small stores, restaurants and service stores such as nail salons, cleaners and
real estate offices. These retail establishments are the only retail we
have on all of sand key and Bellaire Beach. Occupants of the condos up and
down Sand Key utilize these convenient amenities being they are in walking
distance of so many residences.
To allow the increase in population density of this area will
adversely affect our troubled water supply and create a possible problem with
storm water runoff from the elevated property and would flood onto the streets
and our property at 1230 and 1250 Gulf Blvd which is not elevated above the
street elevation. Traffic during the summer beach and snowbird seasons has
increased enough already. I ask you to please seriously consider the
adverse effects if the CDB comes before you with a recommendation other
than to keep The Shoppes at Sand Key zoned as it was prior to October,
2006.
I thank you in advance for your attention to this important Sand Key
issue.
Yours truly,
Arlene Musselwhite
