WHE�AS, the State of Florida has established a Sustainable Communities
Dem�nstr�tion Project to promote "sustainability" and to direct State planning assistance
and othec resources to communities that are accepted into the Demonstration Project; and
WIIEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater has, in a duly-noticed
public hearing, d�termined that the stated objectives of the Sustainable CQmmunities
Demonstraiian Project are compatible with and supportive of City of Clearwater goals and
initiatives in the aseas of infill devetopcnent, environmental protection, open space and
r�cre�tiona! oppori�anity provision, redevelQpment, devetopment review streamlining,
cost-ef%ctive infrastructure provision, econornic development, tourism development and
pr+�rnotion, cnuttimodal transportation, code compliance, and affordable housing .
