96-28� � ,.;� � �, �� A RESOLUTION OF iHE ClTY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, STATING THE CITY'S INTENT CONCERNING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE MEMORIA� CAUSEWAY BRIDGE; REQUESTING THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT,4TIOIV TO REDl10E TFiE SCOPE OF THE SCHEDULED REPAIR PROJECT; PROVIDING APV EFFECTIVE DATE. WHER�AS, The Memorial Causeway Bridge (the Bridge) is the primary access and evacuation route for north Sand Key, south and north Cleann�ater Beach and Island Estates and is of vital importance to the City; and WHEREAS, the repairs to the i1iler�orial Causeway Bridge proposed by ihe Florida Department of Transportation (FDOi� are for safe4y purposes will not improve the capacity or correct ihe functional obsolesence of the bridge; and WHEREAS, the Ciiy, in cooperation with FDOT, completed ihe "Memorial Causeway Bridge Feasibility Study Report, July, 1995" which describes the need for a replacement bridge and evaluated the al#ernatives; and WHEP.EAS, th� Gity has contracfied with NDR Engineering fio p�rform a State Environmental Impa�t Report (SEIR) to provide the documentation necessary for the City fo reach a decision on the type, design and location of a replacement bridge for Memorial Ca�aseway and to qualify the project for possible State and Federa! funding; now therefore, BE IT R�SOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CIIY OF CLEARWAiER, FLORIDA: Section 1• Its is the intent of the Ciiy io provide for the consfiruction of a replacement bridge for the Memorial Causeway Bridge within the next four to five years. Funding saurces have not been committed or identi�ed and the City intends to explore ali pos�ible funding sources. Sectiod2.,.
