RESOLUTION NO. 97- 29
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER,
FLORIDA; TO STRENGTHEN THE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES OF THE CONSOLIDATED
PLAN. PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater Principles of Operation declares
that "we will work in partnership with all in our community to build a
�city vvhich is safe, economically sound, ancl physically aifractive and
which provides the opportunities and arneni�ies conducive to a high
quality of life". And,
WHEREAS, in 1996 the Clearwater Cifiy Commission proclaimed
Economic Developrnent to be one of its three main goals. And,
WHEREAS, in 1997 the Clearwater City Commission adopfed a
Strategic Framework for Econornic Dev�lopment. And,
WHEREAS, the Mission defiined in th�� Strat�gdc Framework is "to
support Cle�rwater's families by f4stering the growth of �av�alth and
value added jobs". And,
WHEREAS, the Vision o� iha� framework �eeks to create Clearwater
as a"magnet fi'or Ind�a�frie� o� the �ind, ... attracting high value jobs
to complernent our fhr6�ing busin�ss ba�e". And,
WHE(�EAS, annually the Cl�arwater City Cost�mission adapfs a
Consolidaied Plan ta invest f�der�! and state resz�urc�s in hou�ing,
communiiy, and ��e�nomic developmeni.

BE IT RESCILVED BY THE CITY COMMI�SION OF THE CITY UF

Section 1. The City Manager is directed to enhance the
Consolidated Plan application and evaluation process
by including scoring incentives for projec�s that will
create new permanent private sector employment in the
City of Clearwater fulfilling the �liission and Vision of our
Strategic Framework.
Secfiion 2. This resolution shail take e�f�ct immediately upon
adoption.
