A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER,
FLORIDA, AMENDING THE COMMISSION RULES BY
ADOPTING A SPECIAL RULE OF ORDER CONCERNING
APPOINTMENT OF A CITY COMMISSIONER; PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby establishes the following procedure as
a Special Rule of Order for filling the vacancy on the City Commission:
1. Each Commissioner may submit in writing his or her nominees for
the position prior to the start of the June 13, 1995, special meeting.
2. The order in which the Commissioners will make their nominations
will be determined at the meeting.
3. Each Commissioner may place the name of his or her nominee on the
table for a vote, no second is required.
4. No discussion will be permitted on the nominations.
5. The process will continue until an appointment is approved by vote of three
commissioners.
6. If no appointment is made at the meeting of June 13, 1995, the discussion
will be continued to June 15, 1995. Commissioners may submit new
names prior to the start of the June 15th meeting. Candidates previously
nominated may also be reconsidered.
7. In the event that no one is appointed to the position, a further
special meeting may be established by the Commission. If no
special meeting is established, no further action will be taken by the
Commission and the seat will be filled by special election in
October.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption and shall
be in effect until July 13, 1995,
