A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AND FILE AN
APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE
ROBERT T. STAFFORD DISASTER RELIEF AND EMERGENCY
ASSISTANCE ACT AND TO EXECUTE A DISASTER RELIEF FUNDING
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater is interested in obtaining financial
assistance under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance
Act, Public Law 93 -288, as amended by Public Law 100 -707, or as otherwise
available from the President's Disaster Relief Fund, for damages sustained to
city property during the March, 1993, storm known as the "storm of the century"
(State file FEMA 982 DR); and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the city to submit and file an application and
to execute a Disaster Relief Funding Agreement with the State of Florida in order
to obtain financial assistance; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to execute an application and
file it with the Governor's authorized representative for the purpose of
obtaining certain financial assistance under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster
Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, Public Law 93 -288, as amended by Public Law
100 -707, or as otherwise available from the President's Disaster Relief Fund, for
damages sustained to city property during the March, 1993, storm known as the
"storm of the century;" and
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to provide to the State and to
the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for all matters pertaining to such
federal disaster assistance the assurance and agreements incorporated into the
Disaster Relief Funding Agreement to be executed by th(! City of Clearwater and
the State of Florida.
