92-37A RESOLUTION NO. 92- 37 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE FIRE CHIEF OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER TO PETITION THE PINELLAS COUNTY CONSTRUCTION LICENSING BOARD (PCCLB) FOR AN AMENDMENT TO THE BUILDING CODE RELATING TO AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLERS IN NEW CONSTRUCTION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater maintains a high level of fire protection to its citizens; and WHEREAS, more stringent codes requiring sprinkler systems in certain new construction would further enhance the ability of the City to provide such protection; and WHEREAS, Section 901.5 of the Standard Building Code has previously been amended by the PCCLB for other municipalities and fire districts within Pinellas County; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Fire Chief of the City of Clearwater is authorized and instructed to petition the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board (PCCLB) for an amendment to the Building Code to require automatic-fire sprinklers in all new apartment houses, hotels and office buildings, having floors used for human occupancy located more than 24 feet above over grade.
