Julia Rogers Guy, 97, of Bellealr,
died Sunday (August 2, 1987) at
Morton F. Plant Hospital. Mrs. Guy
was the daUihter of Margaret Ann
Turner and Joel Rogers.
Her mother was bOm in the old
log cabin on Coachman Road (since
moved to Herltag'e Park) i~ 1862
and is believed, to be the second
'female bom in Pinellas County.
Julia's parents owned land and'
developed orange groves until the
freeze. of 1895. Her parents then
sold the land and boua-ht the old
Central Hotel in St. Petersburg
where her father died in 1908.
The family then moved back to
Clearwater where Julia attended
South Ward' School,' and ..t her
death wu the oldeat aJumnua at tIie
school. In downtown Clearwater
she became weU known for. her'
smocked drelllel and her ladies
ready.to.wear MOp in the old
Scranton Arcade.
She III 8urvived by her daUihter

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kerr:
Reference is made to our phone conversation this morning regarding arrangements for the future
interment of your mother-in-law Mrs. Margaret R. Mason.
Our records indicate space 66, Lot 11, Block 2, which you stated Mrs. Mason wanted to use, is
owned by J. Taylor, deceased. In order to use that space, we would need an affidavit from J. Taylor's
executor, legal representative, or sole heir granting right of interment to Mrs. Mason. The affidavit
should be addressed to Ms. Cyndie Goudeau, City Clerk, City of Clearwater, P. O. Box 4748,
Clearwater, FL 34618.
We also discussed the need to have the request for the lot to be staked prior to a burial by a FL
licensed Funeral Director. Our staking fee is $30.00 which customarily is paid by the Funeral Director.

5/26/94 (Thu). 10:33am w/peq re J. Tavlor cemetery lot Atty Hull directed
me to call moss re family members already in lot. S/Peg at Lakeside and got
info on Henry and Jane Lawrence. Nothing in file except name of atty Charles
Barber, 611 Druid Road, Clearwater, phone 441-4727. Checked with Martina at
Moss Ft. Harrison. Nothing in Julia's file except that Jane (her daughter
was personal representative to receive belongings). Spoke with Atty Barber.
He recalls the family. When Henry died all went to Jane. When Jane died,
her estate was probated and all went to her two daughters. There was never
any mention of cemetery property. Our records don't indicate the Lawrence
family owns any of the property. The only name on our records is J. Taylor
and I don't know where that came from. Atty. Barber believes that Margaret
Mason (mother-in-law of Mr. Kerr) was from a prominent family and was married
to a dentist. I don't know if and when he died or was buried. She moved
away many years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law but Mr. Barber
was not sure of their name. Mr. Barber will be happy to assist us if we need
him.
