Attached are two diagrams as provided by the City Clerk's Office
relative to Block 8/Lot 28 and Block 8/Lot 45 of the Clearwater
Cemetery. The four spaces in Block 8/Lot 28 are owned by the
Hill family. The four spaces in Block 8/Lot 45 are owned by
Grace D. Neal.
Unfortunately, on January 12th, 1982, Mr. Jortn Keith Hill was
buried in the wrong space. Specifically, he was buried in the
northernmost space of Block 8/Lot 45 which is owned by Mrs. Neal.
He should have been buried in Block 8/Lot 28 Space B.
Records op the old portion of this cemetery leave a lot to be
desired and it's most unfortunate when mistakes of this type
occur. However, I feel it's necessary to disinter Mr. John Keith
Hill from his current resting place to the appropriate space in
Block 8/Lot 28. I would like to have this accomplished as soon
as possible in the event Mrs. Neal needs the space in which Mr.
Hill is currently buried in the event she has a death in her .
family. This type situation involving a disinterment has occurred
in past years and we are required to get a disinterment permit
from the funeral home. However, prior to getting this permit,
we must secure permission for the disinterment from the nearest
relative of the deceased. We have attempted to do this but feel
we should advise your office of the situation.
We contacted the nearest relative, Mr. Michael Hill, and he was
qui te upset to learn that his father was buried in the wrong space.
He contacted his attorney, Mr. John Nelson of St. Petersburg, who
called my office. I explained the situation to Mr. Nelson and
apologized for the confusion. . I informed him that I would send
him information regarding the cemetery in hopes that they would
give permission for the disinterment.
In the event your office is contacted by Mr. Nelson, I wanted to
provide ypu this information. Also, I would appreciate your re-
viewing the information and contacting me as to an appropriate
direction you feel we should take. Your assistance is appreciated
and I'm available in the event you have any questions.
