property from the deed copies you presented,
The additional interment and disinterment information
for your father, NORMAN FRANCIS EUBANKS, printed on
the sheets for spaces 6 & 7 reflect the order of
changes which were made (on paper only) while research
of our deed files was underway. There was no physical
moving of your father's cremated remains. His final
resting place is space 7 as you requested.
The deed copies, copy of your father's will, and the
affidavit you signed will be made a part of our
permanent file. There should be no problem in
determining your interest in the three remaining
spaces (1, 2, and 3) of this lot in the future.
Karen, thank. you for allowing us to serve you during

week of 2/6/97 spoke wlCarolyn Harris at National Cremation Society re cremated
remains of Norman F. Eubanks. Recommended family place urn in spaces already
occupied by his parents because we didn't know who owned property. Told her we
needed an affadavit stating he was sole surviving heir; his relationship to Ernest & Norma
Eubanks; and a clause releasing the City from liability to place the urn in with his mother
or father. Told Carolyn if we used an empty space in the lot, we would need similar
affadavits giving their permission from the other families whose names were penciled in
lot book.
On Wed 2/12 Susan took interment order unaware of my prior conversation with funeral
director and was told to use space 7. Thurs am I spoke wlCarolyn and she did not
remember our conversation (I had placed a sticky in the lot book) then she said she
remembered the conversation but thought I meant only the sole survivor affadavit on the
part of the Eubanks only. Susan & I went to John Carassass for his opinion. He stated
our ownership record was unclear and agreed that we were correct to insist on proper
ownership documentation. Carolyn was notified and in turn the family agreed to inter
Norman's remains in space 6 with his mother. Carolyn called in the early afternoon and
said the family had found a deed and will get it or a fax to us.
Mrs. Murphy came into office and presented a deed dated April 5, 1906 to E. H. Eubanks
for Lot Eleven (11). Block Four (4) and a deed dated Oct. 7, 1935 from E. H. Eubanks,
Sr., and his wife, Vera E. Eubanks to Ernest H. Eubanks, Jr. for Lot Eleven (11), Block
Four (4). Our records indicate the family has ownership in Lot Eleven (11), Block Three
(2). Susan and I pointed out the difference in block designator to Mrs. Murphy. We
assured her we would not leave her "stranded" with no place to place her father's urn and
that we would make every attempt to find out what had happened since her family had
already had 3 burials spanning 1928 to 1968. Spoke wlLegal. Pam wants us to do
whatever research is necessary to find out what happened and why.
Spoke w/G/enn - he did not recall any major remarking of cemetery blocks. Called Earl
Barrett. He was not able to locate any official replats of the older blocks. Spoke with
Rich Novo-mesky. He brought copies of those cemetery parcels which had been platted.
Researched deed file and found a few deeds which had been quitclaimed and reissued
with only the block designator changed. John C said he will review material with Pam
next week. Susan and I will go to city hall to look for oilcloth map of older section.
Called Karen and brought her up to speed on all research efforts. Explained to her that the
city's intent was to assist her in providing closure to her father's death; assure her that all
family members were where they belonged; and provide her with documentation which
would indicate proper ownership.
received call from Karen - she wanted to let me know service for her father was done and
wnet ok. told her I would continue research and would be picking up old map from City
Hall. - Later in day went to City Hall wlSS and got map. The family name EUBANKS was
clearly printed in the west half of lot Eleven, Block 3. The map was marked 1947 but the
update took place in 1962. Spoke wlJohn and he agreed with present interpretation of
property. which is that the block designator of 4 was incorrect and most liikely a scribners
error. He stated that if Karen wanted anything official and in writing, she would need to
deal with Legal because more documented research would need to be done.
iin pm called Karen and told her what we had found. Also told her that we could not
provide her with anything official (such as a deed) without having to do more in-depth
research and at that point she would be dealing with City Legal Staff. Told her I would
send her printouts of computer reports to assure her how the information as to who
owned property would be made available in the future. She was in agreement at this time
