WA his TREE INVENTORY FOR THE JADE GROUP, L.C. Prepared by Tree Works, Urban Forestry Consultants OVERVIEW: Tree Works conducted an onsite inspection of all trees 8" in diameter and greater growing at 1255 Cleveland street in Clearwater, Florida, a property owned by The Jade Group, L.C. The purpose for the inspection was to assess the overall condition of each tree and make specific recommendations regarding the tree's site contribution and maintenance needs. In the inventory each tree is assigned a location number, noted by specie, size, and rated as to the overall condition. In addition, as noted above, specific comments were added where deemed appropriate. All Tree Works personnel conducting the. inspection were active International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborists. INVENTORY CODES: The location number is the first number on the left -hand column and references a corresponding location as appearing on the attached site plan. The location number is followed by the tree specie name appearing first as the common name then 'followed by the - tree's botanical name. The botanical name appears in parenthesis and is only used the first time individual species are listed, subsequently common names are used. The tree's size follows the specie name and is recorded using the standard forestry measurement for tree diameter of diameter at breast height (DBM which equals the tree's diameter measured at 4.5 feet above grade. In instances where a tree forks at 4.5 feet above grade the measurement is either taken just below the fork or is the sum total of the forks; whichever best reflects the trees true size. The trees overall condition is listed "next and is based on a 0 — 5 scale with zero being a dead tree and five designating a specimen. Increments of 0.5 are used to define overall condition as precise as possible. The, condition rating weighs many factors including: tree energy dynamics, agth3n ec! •an&or_disease -- problems :.,nutritional deficiencies- speEi characteristics , future maintenance issues and site issues relating to physical -restrictions: In general, a tree with a 3.0 overall condition rating is an average tree and is healthy enough that it is worthy of preservation. Trees above 3.0 should be strongly considered for preservation and trees below 3.0 should be removed or may, need specific remedial work to increase their overall condition rating (see specific recommendations). Some trees have specific recommendations after the condition rating. The recommendations if not self explanatory will be explained during the site walk through that is provided by Tree Works as part of the tree inventory. Note: In general, the trees on the subject site have been both neglected and poorly maintained. Trees that are to be preserved will benefit considerably by a comprehensive tree care program performed by or under the direction of an I.S.A. Certified Arborist. They compose a small stand and consequently have not developed in crown spread had they grown as individual specimens. They represent'a valuable asset to the site and all efforts should be made to preserve these trees intact as a stand. It is characteristic for sand live oaks to have a somewhat sparser foliage than the live oak (Quercus virginiana). Sand live oak trees are xeric and typically require no additional fertilization unless there is a noticeable nutritional deficiency. 15 - Sand pine (Pinus clausa), 21" DBH, 0.0 Dead and should be removed as this tree constitutes a site hazard. 16 - Sand pine, 20" DBH, 2.0 Recommend removal- chlorotic. Note: Sand pine trees (Pinus ciausa) are fragile native trees that grow only in deep sandy soils. They need little water and nutrients and require an acid Ph. They typically perform poorly in urban environments and develop yellowing foliage (chlorosis) if Ph becomes too high. Sand pines are weakly rooted and will fall when they decline. This site is not ideal for sand pines and all sand pines should be removed and replaced with native shade treed such as the live oak or slash pine (Pinus elliottii). 17 - Sand pine, 20" DBH, 1.0 Thinning crown, co- dominate stem with included bark, foliage is chlorotic. TREE INVENTORY FOR 1255 CLEVELAND STREET -- Continued * Trees with an "X" after their locator number denote a tree that is not growing on the subject property but located on adjacent private property or public rights of way.
