Section I . It is hereby proposed that Section 8 . 05 (a) of the
City Charter' be amended as follows
Sec . 8 .05 . lei 1�ions.
(a) Co=i-fission Positions. All members of the city
commission except as otherwise provided by the charter, shall be
elected at large by the qualified voters of the city. The
candidate recei-vine the largest number of votes amoncr the
candidates for that seat shall be elected.
Section 2' . It is hereby proposed that Section 8 . 0.6 be added
to the City Charter be amended as follows :

cannot be met , then the remaining candidate shall be declared

Section A referendum election is Hereby called and will be
held on March 14 . 1995, at the general municipal election for the
consideration bv° the voters of the City of Clearwater of the
proposed Charter amendments . The question to appear on the
referendum ballot: reflecting the proposed amendments to the Charter
at the regular municipal election scheduled for March 14 1995 ,
shall be as follows

Shall Sections 8 . 05 and 8 . 06 of the City Charter be
amended as provided Ordinance 576 --95 to provide that
the candidate receiving the largest number of votes among
candidates for a city commission seat shall be elected;
and o provi de, that when a ca,�adidate vacancy occurs after
the anal of the qualifying period: the remaining candidate
shall be declared elected?

Section 55 . This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
adoption.. The amendment to the City Charter provided for herein,
shall take effect only upon approval of a majolrity of the City
eectorso?ving at, the referendum election on ;these issues ad upn'
the filing of th_,e Amended Charter with the Secretary of State .
