The lA Truss tie-down strap USC43 has the right leg folded to fit within the elevator shaft. The folded leg of the tie-down strap will develop the full capacity of the tie-down strap. With 2-bolts the allowable capacity is 12,340 lbs. The required design uplift is 2,4841bs.,thus an excess capacity of 9,856 lbs. 2. The use of the HJC26 Hip/Jack Connector provides a minimum of 1,625 lbs. of uplift at the hip truss and jack truss connections. The maximum required design uplift force is 1,0821bs., thus an excess capacity of 543 lbs. 3. Tie-down brackets that are wider than the members they connect shall require a filler to prevent the members from rotating in the tie-down bracket. The filler should be a 2x6 and the minimum length of the 2x6 filler should be the length of the tie-down bracket. I have also reviewed the tie-down anchors tha.t were used on the project and have prepared the attached spreadsheet listing the up-lift forces and the design strengths of the tie-downs. The tie-downs used aze more than sufficient to resist the design up-lift forces on each truss on the project.
