Subject: Transfer of Properties Escheated to Pinellas County Lying Within
the Corporate Limits of the City of Clearwater
Dear Mr. Wright:
As you may know, there are a number of properties which have escheated to
Pinellas County which lie within the corporate limits of the City of
Clearwater.
The County Attorney's office advises me that Section 197.592, Florida
Statutes, Subsection (3), specifies that if the County is not going to be
using this land, and if the land has not been previously sold or dedicated to
some other use, then any such lands "which are located within the boundaries
of an. incorporated municipality of a county shall be conveyed to the governing
board of the municipality in which the land is located." This section
requires, by law, that Pinellas County transfer to you lands that are not to
otherwise be used by the county or sold.
In aceordance with this law, we have deeded to you properties that are not of
use toPinellas county (See Exhibit "A" attached).
