Hi! I have a small cemetery problem going on over here. A woman named Linda Humphreys called about a month ago asking for directions to her baby brother's gravesite. His name was Fred Mims. He was buried in 1957. 1 could not find that name in our cemetery program or in any old documents here. I told her she might want to check with Moss Feaster (they did the burial). She called again last Friday, 3/23, from the cemetery and again wanted me to direct her to her brother's gravesite. I told her I have no record of a Fred Mims in our cemetery. She came into City Hall and gave me a copy of a receipt from Moss Feaster that says they paid $10.00 to the City of Clearwater for a baby space in "Clearwater Cemetery' in 1957 for Fred Mims. It's a Moss Feaster receipt, nothing from the City of Clearwater. The mother said she came back in 1979 and the little silver marker with his name on it (from the funeral home?) was still in the ground. They never put a headstone on the grave. Now she wants to put a headstone on it and the little silver sign is gone. She has a vague remembrance of where the grave is, but she's pointing to block 11, the first two rows like spaces 1 - 19. They have no copy of a deed or anything else that indicates where the grave is. Anyideas? Thanks!
