I received your letter regarding finding the burial place of your great-grandfather, Solomon Bruce Kitchen. I copied you on an email I sent today to Mike Sanders of the Clearwater Historical Society. Because we have no record of his burial at the Clearwater Municipal Cemetery, I'm hoping Mr. Sanders may have some contacts that could research it a little further for you. Mike Sanders contact info is: email address: clwrhistorian@aol.com cell #: 727-434-1684 1 know he is on the road traveling this weekend, but he will get to work researching this as soon as he is able. Thanks for taking my call today! As we discussed, I have received a letter from Mary B. Eldridge in Waterloo, IA. She is inquiring about the burial place of her great-grandfather, Solomon Bruce Kitchen. He died March 23, 1914 and per a letter Mary has from a Funeral Director at that time (W.S.Smith), he was buried in the "Clearwater Cemetery" on March 24, 1914. The City of Clearwater purchased what is known as the "Clearwater Municipal Cemetery' in the 1940's. We have no record of a Solomon Bruce Kitchen (or any other variation of that name) buried there. Any help you could give to Mary Eldridge would be much appreciated. Her contact information is: Mary B. Eldridge 2204 Ashland Ave. Waterloo, IA 50703 email address: clarkeldrid@yahoo.com Thank you, Karen Vaughan Sr. Staff Assistant Official Records and Legislative Services Phone: 727-562-4091 karen.vaughan@myclearwater.com 1 October 10, 2005 City Clerk, Clearwater 112 South Osceola Ave Clearwater, FL 33756 My great grandfather was buried in a cemetery in Clearwater in 1914. I have a letter from the Funeral Director who states he was the keeper of the record of deaths at that time. In the letter, dated March 18, 1915, a W. S. Smith states that SOLOMON BRUCE KITCHEN died March 23, 1914 and was buried at CLEARWATER CEMETERY March 24th. However, I cannot seem to find what cemetery was named "Clearwater Cemetery" in 1914. I am trying to locate the cemetery to find out just where my great grandfather is buried. There is a possibility that he may have been buried under the name Solomon Bruce, but probably as Solomon Bruce Kitchen. If you can be of any assistance or can direct me to someone who might be able to help me in this quest, I would appreciate it. Thank you. Sincerely, (?7_6 / Mary B.
