WHEREAS, detailed records of the City have accumulated for many
years to the extent that it is becoming difficult to keep them properly stored
and indexed; and
WHEREAS, a careful study has been made as to the length of time
such original City records should be kept before destruction with or without
microfilming; and
WHEREAS, Florida Statutes, Sections 9Z. 29 and 92. 35 authorize
the microfilming of official records by the City and the destruction of

such records after having been microfilmed and provides that microfilmed
photographs are admissible in evidence as the original itself; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that Resolutions Nos. 63-12,
63-54 and 64-83 should be further amended by adding thereto the schedule
hereto attached;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That authority is hereby given to microfilm and destroy or
destroy without microfilming the City of Clearwater records as indicated
on the attached schedule, provided, however, that a description of such
records destroyed shall first be made and certified and retained in the
City's files and providing further that no such records shall be destroyed

A RESOLUTION SUPPLEMENTING AND AMENDING PRIOR
RESOLUTIONS NOS. 63-12, 63-54 and 64-83 , AUTHORIZING
THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN CITY RECORDS AFTER
THE LAPSE OF SPECIFIED PERIODS OF TIME AND
AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN OTHER
CITY RECORDS .AFTER THE LAPSE OF SPECIFIED
PERIODS OF TIME, PROVIDING SAID RECORDS HAVE
BEEN REPRODUCED ON MICROFILM; PROVIDING
FURTHER THAT SUCH RECORDS MAY BE RETAINED
FOR A LONGER PERIOD WHEN DEEMED NECESSARY OR
ADVISABLE AND REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS OR
PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.

2. That this Resolution shall not be deemed as requiring the
destruction of such City records after the lapse of the periods shown in
the attached schedule, but may be retained for longer periods when deemed
necessary or advisable by the Department Head or the City Manager.
3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith
be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
