RESOLUTION
No. 64 - 42
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
finds that Gulf Boulevard which extends its a Southerly direction from Clearwater
Pass Bridge through Belleair Beach and Indian Rocks Beach and other cities
and towns, qualifies as a state road and indeed a portion of the said Gulf
Boulevard is a part of the state secondary road system; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater is desirous
of having all of that portion of Gulf Boulevard from Clearwater Pass Bridge
South designated and accepted as a part of the State secondary road system,
and that Gulf Boulevard be extended from the North side of Clearwater Pass
Bridge an Clearwater Beach Island until it joins State Road 60 and that said
Northerly extension be on a route approved by the State Road Board and
designated likewise as a secondary road;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEAR-WATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That a request is made to the Board of County Commissioners
of Pinellas County, Florida, to join in with said City in a joint request to
the State Road Department to designate that part of Gulf Boulevard lying
in a Southerly direction from Clearwater Pass Bridge both in and out of
the corporate limits of the City of Clearwater, be made a part of .the State
secondary road system, and that Gulf Boulevard be extended from the
North side of Clearwater Pass Bridge on Clearwater Beach Island until it
joins State Road 60 and that said Northerly extension be on a route approved
by the State Road Board and designated likewise as a secondary road, and
do all things necessary to accomplish the same at the earliest possible
date,
2. That certified copies of this Resolution be submitted to Warren
Cason of the State Road Board, Tampa, Florida; District Engineer of the
State Road Department, Bartow, Florida; and J. Floyd Glisson, Pinellas
County Administrator, for the Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas
County, Florida,
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of March, 1964.
