RESOLUTION
No. 62 - 89
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Commission of
the City of Clearwater, Florida, that United States Senator George Smathers
of the State of Florida has proposed that the United States recognize a free
Cuban government in exile; and
WHEREAS; the City Commission of the City of Clearwater feels
that the citizens of Clearwater, as well as Americans everywhere, should
do everything within their power to help the Cuban people regain their
freedom and to be able to again return to their native land; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission to officially
endorse said proposal made by Senator Smathers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER,
FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY
ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
officially endorses the proposal of United States Senator George Smathers
that the United States recognize a free Cuban government in exile in order
that the Cuban people in exile may know that we not only cherish our own
freedom but are anxious that all people may have a free government which
is for the good of the people.
Z. That certified copies of this Resolution be sent to United States
Senator George Smathers, United States Senator Spessard Holland and
Congressman William C. Cramer.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of July, A. D. 1962.
