RESOLUTION
No. 62 -22
WHEREAS, it has been the policy of the Bureau of Old Age,
Survivors and Disability Insurance, St. Petersburg, Florida office
to assist the citizens of Pinellas County with their Social Security
problems; and
WHEREAS, the said Bureau has had representatives in the Clearwater
City Hall only on Tuesdays of each week for the general public; and
WHEREAS, the population of Clearwater has increased to
approximately 35, 000; and
WHEREAS, Upper Pinellas County should have the services of
a full time office of the Bureau in order to serve the citizens of not
only Clearwater, but Largo, Dunedin., Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor,
Safety Harbor, Oldsmar and the surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater feels that a service of this
type is in the public interest, as is evidenced by the continual requests
` of our citizens for assistance on their Social Security problems every
day of the week;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
^;f COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the Bureau of Old Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance
establish and maintain a district office in the City of Clearwater in order
to assist and advise the citizens of Upper Pinellas County on their Social
Security problems.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the
regional office of the Bureau in Atlanta, Georgia, for their immediate
consideration; as well as a copy hereof to be sent to Honorable George A.
Smathers, United States Senator, Washington, D. C. ; Honorable Spessard
L. Holland, United States Senator, Washington, D.C.; Honorable William
C. Cramer, United States Congressman, Washington, D. C. ; and to Secretary
of Health, Education and Welfare Abraham A. Ribicoff, Washington, D, C.
for their assistance, counsel and advice.
