RESOLUTION No, 61 - 85 WHEREAS, General Telephone Company of Florida has applied to the Florida Railroad and Public Utilities Commission for an increase in rates, and WHEREAS, said telephone company secured a substantial increase in rates in 1959 by order of the Commission, and WHEREAS, Pinellas County has been suffering from a severe business recession and is in the process of recovering from same, and WHEREAS, any material or substantial increase in telephone rates would have a severe and detrimental effect upon the economy of the community, and WHEREAS, there have been alleged complaints about the service furnished bythe said company which may or may not be well founded; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEAR- WATER, FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the City of Clearwater does hereby protest and object to the allowance of an increase in telephone rates and asks to be notified of all hearings on such application. 2. That the City petitions and prays such Commission to recon- sider, reopen and cause hearings to be had on the rate of return allowed to such company by previous orders of the Commission. 3. That the City of Clearwater requests and petitions the Florida Railroad and Public Utilities Commission, of its own motion, to cause an inquiry or investigation to be made as to adequacy of service furnished by said General Telephone Company in this community. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of August, 1961.
