the City of Clearwater is in competition with private
• businesses for competent, skilled and experienced employees; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is to the bast interest
of the said City of Clearwater, Florida, that it be authorized to pay,
a part or all of the cost of group insurance plans for their employees

and experienced employees; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida has passed
a general law known as Chapter 61-118 (Senate Bill No, 231) Acts of
Florida, 1961, which enables all municipalities, including the City
of Clearwater, to accomplish this aim;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER
FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY
f' ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City of Clearwater hereby elects to exercise its authority
to provide life, health, accident, hospitalization., medical and annuity
insurance for its employees and officers on a group insurance plan and
to that end hereby directs the City Manager of the City of Clearwater
to implement the program in accordance with the provisions of Chapter

61-118 (Senate Bill No. 2r31) General Acts of Florida, 1961.
2, It is hereby determined by the City Commission of the City
of Clearwater, Florida, that the City of Clearwater, until changed by
the City Commission, shall pay under the group plan implemented by the
City Manager the entire premium for hospitalization and medical
insurance for each individual employee of the City who makes a written
request to the City to do so. The cost of the premium for the Employee's
dependents shall be borne by the employee, however.
3: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
passage.
