A
WHEREAS, the State Road Department and the State
Road Board have heretofore taken all necessary steps to im-
prove and widen Gulf to Bay Boulevard (SR 60) between High-
land Avenues and US 19 within the City limits of the City of
Clearwater; and
WHEREAS said project is now under construction
and it is apparent that traffic will be considerable on said
roadway following the completion of all improvements; and
WHEREAS, by reason of the tremendous growth of the
City of Clearwater there are many hundreds of business estab-
lishments fronting said road between said intersections and
the same may now be considered a major business district; and
WHEREAS, pedestrian traffic will require the use of
sidewalks on both sides of said road in order to protect the
safety of such persons, but it has been noted that the State
Road Board has only let a contract for sidewalk installation
on one side of said 'SR 60; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater has received a peti-
tion from business establishments fronting on Gulf to Bay
Boulevard pleading the necessity of a sidewalk on both sides
of said road; and
WHEREAS the City Commission recognizes the need of
installation of sidewalks on both sides of said State Road and
has acquired and will convey to the State Road Department far
right of way purposes all necessary right of way including a
sufficient amount for installation of a sidewalk on both sides
thereof;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLOR-
IDA IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED
AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the State Road Department and the State Road
?=- Board be requested to investigate the matters and things set
forth in this resolution and cause to be constructed a sidewalk
on both sides of Gulf to Bay Boulevard at State Road Department
expense prior to completion of the Gulf to Bay Boulevard project.

2. That a certified copy of this resolution be fur-
nished the State Road Department as well as the State Road Board.
