WHEREAS, The Seaboard Air Line Railroad Company and
the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company, both of whose
lines serve the City of Clearwater, Florida, have proposed
a merger of their properties into one rail system, and will
shortly apply to the Interstate Commerce Commission for ap-
proval of such merger; and
WHEREAS, it is the unanimous opinion of the mem-
bers of this Commission that the proposed merger will re-
sult in a strongor transportation system and will redound
to the benefit of this city in providing its citizens with
a progressive and modern transportation service, designed
to meet the needs of the shipping and traveling public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLOR-
IDA, IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEM-
BLED, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That, upon the filing with the Interstate Com-
merce Commission by Seaboard Air Line Railroad Company
and Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company of an application
for authority to merge their respective properties into
one rail system, the Interstate Commerce Commission be,
and it is hereby respectfully urged to expedite the hear-
ing thereof, and to grant, such application.
2. That the Mayor of the City of Clearwater,
or any other official thereof that he may designate, is
hereby authorized and directed to appear as a witness
in support of the application of said railroads at the
