area has experienced an unprecedented growth of population businesses and
residences during the past ten years, and is continuing its rapid
growth; and
WHEREAS postal and mail services are an integral part of
any community and it is necessary that the residents and visitors
to Clearwater be furnished and provided with adequate and up-to-
date postal facilities, and that these postal facilities keep
pace with the unprecedented growth of this community; and

City and surrounding area; and .?.
'?'t,• ` ' } ?:' Y.:' WHEREAS, there is wide-spread public interest concerning „
the deficiency of our postal facilities and service since it
affects each and every member of this community, both directly and indirectly; and L ,
:rear;,;. WHEREAS, this is a community problem and the interests of
our citizens are affected, and it is therefore proper that the
community take such action as is necessary to see that proper postal
facilities are provided;
RESOLVED BY THE CITY
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
COMIISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER FLORIDA
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED:
1. That the need for a new postal facility for the Catty
of Clearwater be brought to the immediate attention of the postal
officials of the United States and such other officials of the
United States concerned therewith and that such officials be pe-
titioned to immediately commence the plans for and the construction
of a new postal facility sufficient and adequate to efficiently
{`<t° handle the postal needs of the City of Clearwater, Florida.
2. That co of this resolution be furnished and sent to
the Post Office Department, Atlanta 3, Georgia, and to the Post
Office Department Washington D. C. for their immediate atten-
