RESOLUTION

WHEREAS,'the only access to Clearwater Beach is now
served by Memorial Causeway; and
VRiEREAS, Clearwater Beach has become a nationwide
attraction for thousands of year-round viaitors; and '
WHEREAS, the permanent residential and business popu-
lation of Clearwater and its beach is in excess of 40,000,
and the density of automobile traffic to and from Clearwater
Beach has reached an all time high; and
WHEREAS, the public safety, health and welfare now
requires that additional means must be provided for access
and ingress to and from Clearwater Beach not only for the
movement of through traffic, but also evacuation in time of
public emergency; and
VTIiEREAS, the engineering for widening and deepening
of Little Pass is completed and has received Federal approval;
and
VKiERBAS, the State Road Department of Florida has com-
pleted all engineering and plans for construction of a bridge
across Little Pass from the south end of Clearwater Beach to
Dan's Island; and
VIEREAS, the owners of Dan's Island have consented to
dedicate to the public generally, the necessary rights-of-
way for approach roads to connect to Gulf Boulevard, and have
furthermore agreed to petition the City of Clearwater for
annexation of all privately owned lands lying north of the
Town of Belleair Beach in consideration of the City of
Clearwater furnishing all utilities and services to said area
as the same becomes developed and populated, as well as zoning
the name "B" - Business at the time of formal annexation; and

be called upon to perform extraordinary duties, contemplated
