AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
AMENDING ARTICLE III, CANDIDATES, OF CHAPTER B,
ELECTIONS, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, 1962, TO PROVIDE THAT
CANDIDATES FOR MAYOR =COMMISSIONER OR CITY
COMMISSIONER MAY FILE FOR OFFICE NOT LESS
THAN THIRTY-FIVE DAYS PRIOR TO THE DAY OF
ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
TO THE EXTENT OF'SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR
THE SEPARABILITY OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF;
PROVIDING FOR PROPER NOTICE OF PROPOSED
ENACTMENT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE
DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Subparagraph (d) of Section 8-54, Petitions, of
Article III, Candidates, of Chapter S, Elections, of the Code of Ordinances
of-the City of Clearwater, Florida, 1962, is hereby amended to read as follows:
(d) Candidates for the office of mayor-commissioner
or city commissioner may file in the office of the
city clerk during regular business hours at Clearwater
City Hall not more than sixty (60) days and not less
than thirty-(434D.) thir!X-five (35) days prior to the day
of election. Prior to twenty (20) days before the
scheduled election any candidate may withdraw his
name from nomination, but no fee will be refunded.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
Section 3. Should any part or provision of this ordinance be declared
by a court of competent jurisdiction to be :invalid, the same shall not affect
the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any part thereof other than the
part declared to be invalid.
Section 4. Notice of the proposed enactment of this ordinance has

been properly advertised in a newspaper of general circulation in accordance
with Chapter 166.041, Florida Statutes.
