AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER
FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 80 OF ARTICLE IX, ' :_,

OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, TO SET FORTH THE PRO-
CEDURE FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF ALL MEMBERS OF
ANY ADVISORY BOARD WHERE THE APPOINTMENTS ARE
MADE BY THE MAYOR AND/OR THE CITY COMMISSION;
PROVIDING FOR THE SEPARABILITY OF THE PROVISIONS
HEREOF; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PRO-
VIDING FOR PROPER NOTICE OF PROPOSED ENACTMENT; `;f • ::' = :;;=.-` ",'='
AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ;
ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 80, How Constituted, of Article IX, Advisory
Boards, of the Charter of the City of Clearwater, Florida, is hereby amended
to read as follows;
Section 80. How constituted.
The City Commission may at any time appoint an advisory
board or advisory boards, composed of men or women who are
residents of the City of Clearwater qualified to act in an ad-
visory capacity to the City Commission, the City Manager, or
to any department of the City Government, with respect to the
conduct and management of any property or institution, or the
exercise of any public functions of the City. If the City Commission
is unable to fill the membership of said boards with members who
are residents of the City of Clearwater, it may appoint members
who reside outside of the corporate limits of the City of Clearwater.
The members of such boards shall serve without compensation
for the time fixed in their appointment, or at the pleasure of the
Commission, and their duties- shall be to consult and advise
with such municipal officers and make written recommendations
which shall become part of the records of the City.
All appointments which are to be made by the Mayor and/or the
City Commission shall be made in the following manner:
a. At a City Commission meeting the Mayor shall request
names to fill the vacancies on the various Boards. Such
nominations with brief resumes shall be made by any or all
of the Commissioners and the Mayor-Commissioner. Nominations
in writing, with resumes, will be accepted from the public.
b. After receipt of the nominations, the Mayor shall review the
nominations, screen and interview the individuals nominated,
if deemed necessary, and report back to the City Commission
at a Commission meeting the names and pertinent information
concerning nominees suggested for each vacancy.
C. The City Commission shall at a regular meeting, act on the
recommendations of the Mayor and by a majority vote appoint
3 one of the nominees for each vacancy.

invalid, the same shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or
