AN ORDINANCE ASSESSING AND IMPOSING ON EVERY
INSURANCE COMI'ANYs CORPORATION OR OTHER
INSUROR NOW ENGAGED IN OR CARRYING ON, OR
WHO SHALL HEREAFTER ENGAGE IN OR CARRY ON,
THE BUSINESS OF PROPERTY INSURANCE, AN EXCISE
TAX IN ADDITION TO ANY LICENSE OR EXCISE TAX
NOW LEVIED, AMOUNTING TO TWO PER CENT (2%)
OF THE GROSS AMOUNT OF RECEIPTS OF PREMIUMS
FROM POLICYHOLDERS ON ALL PREMIUMS COLLECTED
ON PROPERTY INSURANCE COVERING PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER AND APPROPRIATING THE MONIES
DERIVED FROM SUCH TAX TO THE PENSION FUND
OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF CLEAR-
WATER AND THE SUPPLEMENTARY FIREMEN'S
PENSION AND RETIREMENT FUND OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF ALL
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PRO-
VIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. There is hereby assessed and imposed on every insurance
company, corporation or other insuror now engaged in or carrying on,
or who shall hereinafter engage in or carry on, the business of property
insurance as shown by the records of the State Treasurer in his capacity as
State Insurance Commissioner, an excise or license tax amounting to two
per cent (2%) of the gross amount of receipts of premiums from policyholders
on all premiums collected on property insurance policies covering property
within the corporate limits of the City of Clearwater.
Section Z. All money derived from the tax imposed by this ordinance
is hereby appropriated to the Pension Fund of the Fire Department of the
City of Clearwater and the Supplementary Firemen's Pension and Retirement
Fund of the City of Clearwater, which shall be administered in accordance
with the provisions of Special Acts of the State of Florida establishing said
Funds, Chapter 175, Florida Statutes, and the ordinances of the City of
Clearwater providing for the creation and administration of said Funds.

Section 3. The excise or license tax herein assessed and imposed
shall be in addition to any other lawful license or excise tax now levied by
the City of Clearwater.
Section 4. The excise or license tax herein provided shall be payable
