BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Chapter 8, Elections, of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Clearwater, Florida, 1962, is hereby amended by adding two
new sections to read as follows:
Sec. 8-21, r t°
If a vacancy occurs in the office of City Commissioner
prior to the expiration of one year of the elected two

year term, said vacancy shall be filled in accordance with
Section 15 of the Charter of the City of Clearwater, but at
the next regular municipal election, the candidates for
City Commissioner shall qualify and be listed on the ballot
in groups designated as Group I and Group 2. Those
candidates qualifying and running in Group I shall run for
office for a full two year term on the City Commission h
commencing the first Monday in March following the fe
regular municipal election. Those candidates qualifying
and :running in Group 2 shall run for office to fill the
unexpired portion of the vacated two year term of office
of City Commissioner. All candidates shall be required
to qualify in accordance with the Charter and Code of
Ordinances of the City of Clearwater and all applicable
Florida Statutes. ,? re

Sec, 8[[22,
The above specified procedure shall apply, to all regular
municipal elections until Section 15 of the Charter of
the City of Clearwater is amended to provide that any
vacancy filled on the City Commission shall be until
the expiration of the unexpired portion of said original
elected term.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
Section 3. Should any part or provision of this ordinance be declared
by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the same shall not affect
the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any part thereof other than the
part declared to be invalid.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon
its ,passage,
