ORDINANCE NO. 1042
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 8, PERTAINING TO ELECTIONS, OF
` -' CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CLEARWATER$ FLORIDA,
1962, BY AMENDING SECTION 8-1 TO PROVIDE THAT A
GENERAL ELECTION SHALL BE 14ELD• IN THE CITY ON
THE SECOND TUESDAY IN FEBRUARY OF EACH YEAR;
REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND PRO-
VIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida, enacted Chapter
63-1227, amending Section 161 of Article XIV, pertaining to Elections, of the
Charter of the City of Clearwater to provide that a general election shall
be held in the City on the second Tuesday in February of each year commencing
February, 1964; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of amending the Code
of Ordinances, City of Clearwater, Florida, 1962, to conform with said Act;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CI'T'Y OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Chapter 8, pertaining to Elections, of Code of Ordinances,
City of Clearwater, Florida, 1962, Sub-Section 8-1, pertaining to time of
holding general elections; officers to be elected, is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Sec. 8-1. Time of holding general elections; officers to be
elected.
A general election shall be held in the City on the second
Tuesday in February of each year and every year, at which
general election there shall be elected, by the qualified
electors in the City, all of the City officers made elective
by thle Charter and ordinances of the City.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
passage. ,
