AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CL'EARWATER, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 7, PERTAINING TO BUILDINGS, OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
.-•-- 1962, BY ENACTING A NEW SECTION 7-8 TO REQUIRE THAT
A PERMIT SHALL BE OBTAINED BEFORE DRILLING OR SINK-
ING ANY Y1ELL, VHETHER S14AL LOW OR DEEP, SAID PERMIT
TO BE OBTAINED BY THE INDIVIDUAL', FIRM OR CORPORATION
DOING THE DRILLING OR SINKING; ESTABLISHING THE FEE
FOR SUCH PERMITS; DESIGNATING THE BUILDING INSPECTOR
TO PREPARE THE NECESSARY SPECIAL FORMS FOR ISSUING
SUCH PERMITS; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO
COMPLY THEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE
EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR THE SEPARA-
BILITY OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CL'EARRATER, FLORIDA;
wectioa 1. Chapter 7, pertaining to Buildings, of Code of Ordinances,
City of Clearwater, Florida, 1962, is hereby amended by adding a new
Section 7-8 to read as follows:
E' 7 :tH , Sec. 7-8, y, ells; permit required. It shall be unlawful 19 ,? t, • ?,?? for any person, firm or corporation to drill or sink any
xy'? well, whether shallow or deep, in the City limits of the
City of Clearwater without first obtaining a permit from
the City Building Department to do so. The individual, firm
or corporation actually drilling the well shall be required to
secure the permit for the same, except that an owner doing
?• • ,.? ,' iF?;?- rid; his own drilling or sinking of the well, may secure his own
permit. The cost of the permit shall be One Dollar and 50/ 100
($1. 50) regardless of size or depth or whether drilled or
r ?,x otherwise sunk into the ground.
The Building Inspector is hereby directed to prepare a special
form for well drilling permits requiring such reasonable
information to be given as may be needed and useful to the City
of Clearwater in protecting the general health, welfare and
safety of the citizenry of the City of Clearwater.
Section 2. PENALTY. Any person, organization, society, association
or corporation, or any agent or representative thereof who shall violate any
provisions of this Ordinance shall be subject to the penal provisions as pro-
vided in Section 1-8 of The Code of Ordinances, City of Clearwater, Florida,
Any violation of the provisions of this Ordinance may also 'be grounds for the
City of Clearwater to suspend or revoke the offending party's contractor's or
sub-contractor's license issued by the City of Clearwater. Each day's
continuance of any violation of this Ordinance shall constitute a separate offense.

Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here'
with are to the extent of such conflict hereby repoaled.
Section 4. Should any part or provisions of this ordinance be declared
by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the same shall not affect
the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any part thereof, other than the
• part declared'to be invalid.
