AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A SPECIAL MUNICI-
PAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN CONNECTION WITH
THE REGULAR ELECTION ON DECEMBER 19, 1961;
SAID SPECIAL ELECTION TO DETERMINE WHETHER
OR NOT THE PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 912,
AMENDING THE CITY ZONING ORDINANCES SHALL BE
RATIFIED; PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER OF CONDUCT-
ING SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE OF SAID
ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR DETERMINING THE RE-
SULTS OF SAID ELECTION AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:

Section 1. That a special municipal election shall be held in the
manner herein provided, on Tuesday, December 19, 1961, for the purpose

of determining whether or not the provisions of Ordinance No. 912, an
E ordinance amending Ordinance No. 627, as amended, the City Zoning
Ordinance, shall be approved in whole or in part.
Section 2. At said special municipal election, Ordinance No. 912
shall be submitted to be voted upon and the zoning items to be changed
and/or added shall be voted on individually.
Section 3. Only qualified electors of the City of Clearwater,
Florida, who are freeholders within said City shall be eligible to vote'
in said special election.
Section 4. All persons shall be considered as qualified freeholders
{ in the City who shall be registered as such according to law, as evidenced
i by the records of the Supervisor of Registration of Pinellas County, Florida.
Section 5. The City Commission shall cause to be published in a
newspaper of general circulation in the City once a week for two (2)

consecutive weeks a notice stating the purpose of the election, the polling
E places, and the class of persons eligible to vote therein, the first pubuca-
' lion to be at least ten (10) days before the date of election.
Section 6. Votes in such election shall be cast at each of the f
polls established and maintained by the City in connection with the regular `
election to be conducted by the City on said date.

Section 7. The questions to be submitted to the voters at said
special election shall be whether or not the zoning changes and/or additions
provided in Ordinance No. 912 shall be accepted or rejected individually.
Voting machines shall be used and ballots shall contain the following
form of questions:

The election shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of
Chapter 7 of the Code of the City of Clearwater, 1950, as amended, and
other applicable laws. True sample copies of Ordinance No. 912, together
with a substantially accurate copy of the "Zoning Map of the City of Clear-
water, Florida, 195911, with the proposed changes indicated thereon, shall
be posted at each polling place and said Ordinance, but not said Zoning Map,
shall be published in full in two (2) separate issues of a newspaper of general
circulation in Clearwater, Florida, the first insertion to be at least ten
(10) days prior to December 19, 1961.
Section I. The result of the voting shall be certified and delivered
to the Mayor-Commissioner and the City Clerk in the same manner and by
the same officials as are the results in the general election being conducted
concurrently with said special election, and the City Commission shall
canvass the returns and declare the returns of said special election in the
same manner and at the same time and place as the results of the general
election are canvassed.
Section 9. All things done and accomplished in compliance with this
Ordill snce and in furtherance of the purposes of this Ordinance, prior to the
effec$ive date hereof are hereby ratified and confirmed as being in compliance
with this Ordinance.
