AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 31 OF THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF GLEARWATEA, FLORIDA, 1950,
BEING THE CHAPTER 'CONTAINING REGULATIONS FOR
VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, BY ADDING THERETO AN
ADDITIONAL SECTION TO BE DESIGNATED SECTION
68 (a), DEFINING AND MAKING ILLEGAL THE OFFENSE
OF 11FOLLOW1NG' TOO CLOSELY", AS HEREINAFTER SET
OUT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PArITS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE,4ITH, PROVIDING
PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF SAID SECTION,
AND PROVIDING FOR ITS EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CLEARSIIATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Chapter 31 of the Code of the City of Clearwater,
Florida, 1950, is amended by adding thereto an additional section to
be designated Section 68 (a), to read as follows:
"Section 68 (a) -- FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY.
The driver of a motor vehicle shall, not fallow
another vehicle more closely than is reasonable
and prudent, having due regard for-the speed of
such vehicles and the traffic upon, and the con-
dition of, the street, alley or other thoroughfare."
Section 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.

Section 3. Any person violating the provisions of said adds.--
ti°onal section shall be subject to the penal provisions provided in
Section $, Chapter 1 of the Code of the City of Clearwater, 1950,
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective upon its pass-
age as required by law.
