For The Distribution Of Prizes Or Other Thing Of Value For Profit;
And To Provide A Penalty For The Violation Of This Ordinance."
Be It Ordained by the Town Council of the Torn of Clearwater,
Florida:
Section 1. That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm,
corporation, association, stock company, or their agents, servants,
employees or representatives, to maintain or operate in the Town of
Clearwater, in any building, tent, booth, stall, lot, street or in
any other place in said town, any gambling device or any lottery 'or
any game of chance whats.oever for money or other thing of value.
Sec. 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation,
or their agent, servant or employee to maintain or operate any
mechanical or automatic device of any kind whatsoever for the'
purpose of distributing prizes or other thing of value for profit,
or to give or offer to give money or any article of value conditioned
upon' chance or the result of a game for profit.
Secs. Any game or any device of any nature whatsoever, in the
operation of which, any article of value is given or offered by
the person owning or operating such device, in consideration of a
price or charge, in which there is any elemeMtof chance, shall be
deemed a gambling device or game within the intent and meaning of
this Ordinance.
Sec, 4. Any persons firm or corporation, or the agent, servant
or employee of such, who shall violate any of the provisions of
this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
trial and conviction shall be fined in tho sum not exceeding Two
Hundred Dollars or imprisoned in the Town Jail oi/at labor upon
the streets or other public works,of the Town not exceeding Ninety
days, or by both such fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of
the Mayor.
