', _._..__. ?.-...a.„'?LK1..r _;tr,•.c_1?? ?r V ORDINANCE NO. 1964 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, 1962, TO INCREASE THE ANNUAL SALARY PAYABLE TO EACH COMMISSIONER AND THE MAYOR-COMMISSIONER; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF SECTION 19 OF CHAPTER 9710, SPECIAL ACTS OF 1923, AS AMENDED; PROVIDING FOR THE SEPARABILITY OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF; PRO- VIDING FOR PROPER NOTICE OF PROPOSED ENACTMENT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE AS MARCH 1, 1980. WHEREAS, Section Z. 04 of Ordinance No. 1830 permits the City Commission to determine the annual salary of each Commissioner and the Mayor-Commissioner through the passage of an ordinance; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to increase the annual salary payable to each Commissioner and the Mayor-Commissioner as set out below; and WHEREAS, such action will make the annual salary payable to the elected officials more consistent with the salaries paid in other municipalities of near comparable size, an example of which would be Gainesville, Florida; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA: Section 1. That Article I, In General, of Chapter 2, Administration, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Clearwater, Florida, 1962, is hereby amended by the enactment of the following section to read as follows: "Section 2- 15. 1 Compensation of Mayor-Commissioner and Commissioners. The Mayor-Commissioner shall receive an annual salary of Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12, 000. 00) payable at the rate of $1, 000. 00 per month for his services. Each City Commissioner shall receive an annual salary of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10, 000. 00) payable at the rate of $833. 33 per month for their services. 0 -41964, • , .l l.r? is .V In addition to the salary established herein, the Mayor-Commissioner and each City Commissioner shall receive each month during their term of office a sum of money equal to the actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of the duties of the office the Mayor- Commissioner and each City Commissioner holds. Any expense ac- count submitted by the Mayor shall be reviewed by the Vice Mayor and City Manager. Compensation for travel expanses only be given to a Commissioner for nut-of-town incurred expenses, subject to the criteria and guidelines established for City employees. t+ u Section 2. Pursuant to Section 10.01 of Ordinance No. 1830, Section 19 of Chapter 9710, Special Acts of 1923, as amended by Chapter 19742, Special Acts of 1939; Chapter 2B 169, Special Acts of 1953, and Ordinance No. 14B4, be and the same is hereby repealed. Section 3. Should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this ordinance be declared for any reason to be invalid, the same shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any part thereof other than the part declared to be invalid. Section 4. Notice of the proposed enactment of this ordinance has been properly advertised in a newspaper of general circulation in accordance with Section 166. 041, Florida Statutes. Section 5. The annual salary provided for in Section 1 of this ordinance shall not become effective until March 1, 1980.
