ORDINANCE NO. 1957
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 8, ELECTIONS, OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CLEARWA TER, FLORIDA,
1962, BY PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF SECTION
8-Z RELATING TO THE CALLING OF SPECIAL ELECTIONS;
AMENDING SECTION 8-3 TO CLARIFY PUBLICATION OF
NOTICES FOR ALL GENERAL OR SPECIAL ELECTIONS;
PROVIDING FOR THE SEPARABILITY OF THE PROVISIONS
HEREOF; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH;
PROVIDING FOR PROPER NOTICE OF PROPOSED
ENACTMENT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE
DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 8-Z, relating to the calling of special elections,
of Article I, In General, of Chapter 8, Elections, of the Code of the City
of Clearwater, Florida, 1962, is hereby repealed in its entirety.
Section 2. Section 8-3, Notice of Elections, of Article I,
In General, of Chapter 8, Elections, of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Clearwater, Florida, 196Z, is hereby amended to read as follows:

shall state for what purpose the election is to be held
and what offices and vacancies if any, are to be filled
at such geaeraL special election in the city, and if the
election is for bonding purposes or to negotiate a loan,
the amount for which the city is to be bonded or such
loans negotiated must be stated.
Notice of all Reneral elections shall be published in
a daily newspaper published in the Cit stating the
offices and vacancies to be filled, and such notice
shall be published once a week for two Z weeks im-
mediately preceding the general election.
Section 3. Should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase,

court to be invalid, the same shall not affect the validity of the ordinance

Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith or inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby
repealed to the extent of their conflict.
Section 5. Notice of the proposed enactment of this ordinance
has been properly advertised in a newspaper of general circulation in
accordance with Section 166. 441, Florida Statutes.
Section 6. The provisions of this ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon its passage.
