Section 52.14, Code of Ordinances, is amended to read: Sec. 52.14. Special fire protection service. City water service for special fire protection systems, including but not limited to hydrants, wall hydrants, standpipes, fire pumps and sprinkler systems, on private property shat1 w#4-1' be made available at the property owner's expense. Connection to a city water main shall w444 be made by the water division and charged for at cost of material and labor. A detector check valve with bypass meter or double detector check valve-with bypass-meter shall be required for any internal fire protection line. The type of check-valve-required shall be determined b the water division. Re uired detector check valves shall be owned installed, operated and maintained by the city and shall be subject to the installation and standby charges for such facilities as provided in Section 50.05. The customer shad at all reasonable times permit access by the city water division for the installation, inspection, operation and maintenance of any detector check valve required by this article, if installed on-private owned property, as a condition of receiving water service from the city. This service shall be used for fire protection only and no continual use a or connection other than fire hose or sprinklers shall w444 be allowed on this service, except when approved by the water division. Fire protection service shall w444- be made yail subject to the approval by the water division superinten of the plans and specifications for, and the installation and any subsequent alteration of, the system. All valves on hose connections shal l w4m4 be sealed. Valves M w4-4 be opened only for testing, or aid' in case of fire within the building. Noncompliance: service to be discontinued; notice; consent to entry, (a) In emergency situations when the public potable water supF ly is being contaminated or is in immediate danger of contamination, water service shall w44-1- be discontinued by the water division pupyeyep until the situation is corrected. (b) -No water service connection shall be installed on the premises of any consumer unless the public potable water system is protected as required by this article. (c) Delivery of water to the premises of any consumer may be discontinued by the water division der if any protective device required by this article has not been installed, or is defective, or has been removed or bypassed. Water 94seent4n ed ter service shall not be resumed until conditions at the consumer's premises have been abated or corrected to the satisfaction of the water division plumb4ng . (d) Upon discovery of a violation of this Code, written notice shall be given to the consumer. If violations are not corrected by the date and time as stated on the notice, water supply shall w4-4 be discontinued and the violation shall w444 be referred to the code enforcement board for further action.' (e)' For the purpose of making any inspections, testing, maintenance or discharging the duties imposed by this article, the water division pupmeyer, the health department, and anger the plumbing official, shall have the right to enter upon the premises of any consumer.
