ORDIfiANCE NO. 4244-90
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
RELATING TO DISHONORED CHECKS, DRAFTS AND MONEY ORDERS,
AMENDING SECTION 41-.18, CODE OF ORDINANCES, TO IMPOSE
A SERVICE FEE OF FIFTEEN DOLLARS ($15.00) OR FIVE
PERCENT OF THE FACE AMOUNT, WHICHEVER IS GREATER, FOR
THE COLLECTION OF A DISHONORED CHECK, DRAFT OR MONEY
ORDER; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 41.18, Code of Ordinances, is amended to read:
Sec. 41.18. Dishonored check, service fee.
(a) Any person who presents a check, draft or any other form of payment
order to the city for the payment of money purposes which check, draft or other
order is subsequently dishonored
1 shall be subject to -the -4mpes i # a service fee of fifteen dollars 15.00
or five percent of the face amount of the check draft or order, whichever is
oreate? 4 for the collection of the dishonored
-not-mere than f 4ye dollars check, draft or payment order.
(b) Notice to any person subject to the provisions of this section that
a check, draft or ethep paymePt order presented to the city has been dishonored
shall be similar to that set out in Section F4 832.07(1), Florida Statutes

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
