A RESOLUTIOM OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER,
FLORIDA , SUPPORTING THE NEED FOR MORE
STRINGENT REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INSTALLATION
OF A UTOMA TIC EXTINGUISHIMG SYSTEMS.
WHEREAS, the danger of serious injury or permanent bodily damage
is caused by rt rc: and
WHEREAS, the United States today has the highest per-capita rate
of death and property loso from fire of all industrial nations, and such losses
o(Hie and property from fire are unacceptable: and
WHEREAS, automatic fixed extinguishing systems are the most
effective means of controlling fires in buildings: and
WHEREAS, automatic fire suppression systems are a cost-effective
alternative to manual fire protection: and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, Florida, recognizes the need to
provide better and more cost-effective fire protextion:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater, Florida, hereby supports the
Pinellas County Fire Chief's proposal to strengthen the Ifprinkler requirements
in all occupancies, for the purpose of providing increased fire protection in
a more cost-effective manner.
Z: That a copy of this Resolution be llrovided to the Chairman of
the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board.
3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
