A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION
OF AN APPLICATION TO THE S'P'ATE OF FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES REQUESTING
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE FLORIDA RECREATION
DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR THE ALLIGATOR
CREEK RECREATION AREA PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Element of the Clearwater
Comprehensive Plan lists a need for additional recreation area in Southeast
Clearwater, Planning District 10; and
WHEREAS, the Southwest Florida Water Management District has
made available land and water in the Alligator Creek Basin to the City of
Clearwater with the understanding, in part, that various resource oriented
recreation opportunities would be provided; and
WHEREAS, the Outdoor Recreation in Florida 1981 State plan lists
various resource oriented recreation activities as high priorities in this
Regional Planning District 8; and
WHEREAS, assistance in the development of the Alligator Creek
Recreation Area Project may be available from the Florida Recreation
Development Assistance Program administered by the Florida Department
of Natural Resources; and
WHEREAS, local match is budgeted for the Alligator Creek
Recreation Area project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Manager, Anthony L. Shoemaker, is hereby
authorized to prepare and submit an application to the State of Florida
Department of Natural Resources for the purpose of securing assistance
under the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program in order to
develop the Alligator Creek Recreation Area Project.
