A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER FLORIDA ENCOURAGING PUBLIC USE OF THE
JOLLY TROLLEY.
WHEREAS, congestion of existing municipal roadways, especially
to Clearwater Beach, is a matter of increasing concern; and
rr #:, WHEREAS, the Thoroughfare Plan of the Clearwater Comprehensive
Plan notes that the least cost method of maintaining effective

w traffic flow on potentially congested roadways is to encourage drivers

and riders to leave their automobiles and use alternative transpor-
tation such as mass transit; and
WHEREAS, the Clearwater Energy Plan of the Comprehensive Plan
i4 ?, stresses the need "to provide Clearwater's citizens with alterna-
1 tives to the private automobile" to reduce fuel consumption in
r?rc„ay Clearwater; and
'x WHEREAS, the Jolly Trolley is a recently initiated source of
mass transit to Clearwater Beach, owned by the Jolly Trolley
" Company, a non-profit, community service organization, and operated
by the Central Pinellas Transit Authority; and
WHEREAS, the Jolly Trolley is an imaginative and attractive

form of alternative transportation for both local commuters and
visitors;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COl+iMISSION
OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY
AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOWS:
.. 1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater encourages
the acceptance and the public use of effective, creative, and
spirited alternative transportation represented by the Jolly Trolley
to Clearwater Beach.
2. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of June, A.D. 1981
