A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,' SUPPORTING
THE NEW BRIDGE PROPOSED FOR THE SUNSHINE
SKYWAY,
WHEREAS, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge has been a very important
traffic moving link to Pinellas County; and
WHEREAS, erection of the new suspension bridge system will continue
such transportation link and maintain a safer bridge system with a better
entrance to the Port of Tampa; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater wishes
to go on record as supporting the construction of this suspension bridge
system;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS;
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
hereby supports the concept that the new single suspension bridge should
be constructed and become the new Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
2. That copies of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Governor
of the State of Florida; the Secretary of the Department of Transportation;
and the Chairman of the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation.
3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its adoption.
