A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE
PINELLAS SPORTS AUTHORITY IN ITS EFFORT TO
OBTAIN SEED MONEY FROM THE TOURIST DEVELOP-
MENT COUNCIL.

the Pinellas Sports Authority has been in existence for
WHEREAS

several years; and
WHEREAS, the Authority has completed a feasibility study and
wishes to continue beyond the study in its efforts to secure a stadium and
major league franchise; and
? ISM' WHEREAS, the Authority will need to utilize the services of
+?y:+ consultants and do further design work; and

WHEREAS, the Authority is seeking funding from the Tourist

Development Council in order that it might continue in these preliminary
planning items; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to indicate its support
;?R t for the Pinellas Sports Authority in its attempt to obtain this preliminary
funding in order that it might continue to develop a viable project; and
' WHEREAS, use of Tourist Development Tax Funds for this purpose
will be a proper expenditure of those funds such as would lead to a benefit

4rsr1 to all municipalities in Pinellas County;
4rt NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby
indicates its support for the Pinellas Sports Authority in its efforts to
secure preliminary funding from the Tourist Development Council to
continue development of its program leading to possible construction of
a stadium and obtaining a major league baseball franchise,

2. That a copy of this Resolution shall be provided to the Tourist
Development Council and to the Pinellas Sports Authority.
3. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
