A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY C=4ISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FT.nRIDA, SUPPORTINr,, THE CERTIFICATION
BY THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERAN AND COI 1TNITY AFFAIRS
OF 111r STATV'OF FLORIDA OF DISTRESSED AREAS IDF.NT1:-
FIRD BY THE TAMPA BAY "MIONAL PLANNING COUNCIL, AND
PROVIDINn AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WIZERrAS, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning, Council, in conjunction with
local governments of the region, identified, in 1879, areas that suffer from
a condition of economic distreas, as indicated by the existence of factors
symptomatic of physical deterioration or socio-economic hardship; and
WHEREAS, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council published an analysis
of these areas in a report entitled Identification and Analysis of Economically
Distressed Areas in the Tampa Bay Region as a part of its metropolitan demonstra-
tion program funded by the U. S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development
Administration; and
WHEREAS, three of the economically distressed areas identified in TBRPC's
report lies within the jurisdiction of the City of Clearwater; and
WHEREAS, the areas identified by TBRPC located within this jurisdiction
are consistent with our local community development plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMtIISSION Or THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMLED,
AS FOI.LMS :
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida requests
the Secretary of the Department of Veteran and Commsnity Affairs of the State
of Florida to certify these areas as meeting the criterion for automatic
qualification for participation in the tax credit programs designed to assist
in the redevelopment of such areas under Rule 9B--15.
2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
