RESOLUTION
Trust Fund funded from insurance premium taxes collected within the
corporate limits of municipalities; and
WHEREAS, Clearwater participates in Chapter 175, Florida Statutes,
the Municipal Firefighters Pension Trust Fund Program; and
WHEREAS, Clearwater provides fire service to a defined Fire
District which boundaries include properties outside the corporate limits of
Clearwater as well as all of the corporate limits of Clearwater; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tarpon Springs, Florida, has submitted a
proposed amendment to Section 175. 101, Florida Statutes, to provide for
collection of State Insurance Premium Taxes for the Fire District; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
wishes to endorse this proposed bill for the benefit of Clearwater Fire Fighters;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
1. The Pinellas County Legislative Delegation is hereby requested to
pursue this proposed amendment to Section 175. 101, Florida Statutes, in
the 1981 Legislature and to actively promote its passage.
2. A copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to George Heiber,
Chairman of the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation.
3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its adoption.
