A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
CREATION OF A SISTER CITY COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the City of Nagono City, Japan is the Sister City of
Clearwater; Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Sister City Program seeks to achieve the following
goals: Communication, friendship, reduction of polarization and cultural
exchange; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, Florida, through its program has
already made great strides in achieving these goals; and
WHEREAS, such effort would be assisted through the creation of a
Sister City Committee; and
WHEREAS, such a committee can greatly assist in coordinating
official visits and in fostering student and teacher exchanges; and
WHEREAS, such a Committee can involve the Community In a
coordinated effort; and .
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to establish such a
Committee;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER,
FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY
ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That a committee called the Clearwater Sister City Committee is
at least
hereby established. Such Committee shall have at all times/ one (1)
member to be from the Chamber of Commerce, one (1) from the
Pinellas County School System, one (1) from City of Clearwater staff,
and one (1) City Commissioner selected by the City Commission, and
other interested citizens.

2. The Clearwater Sister City Committee shall- be responsible for'
coordlonting all official visits.between Clearwater and Its Sister City, and
other related activities. The Committee shall provide the City
Commission an annual report of its activities at the close of City's
Fiscal Yeqr.
3. The Committee shall establish a special account and appoint a
Secretary/Treasurer to administer all Committee Monies, which will
be utilized exclusively for Sister City Activities.
4. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.
