NAME OF STADIUM DRIVE BETWEEN SEMtNOLE
STREET AND PALMETTO STREET TO PHILLIES
DRIVE,
WHEREAS, the Philadelphia tlPhllHe"tl bueball tOAnl hu bocn
coming to Clearwater for spring training "inee 1947: and
WHEREAS, since the Phillics have dhUnguhhcct thcmllolvo" thl".
year by winning the 1980 World Scrics, it is appropriate that tho City of
Clearwater honor this accomplishment; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission dollireB to change tho name of the
street in front of Jack RUBsell Stadium, where the PhUllcfI play exhibition
games while in Clearwater, to PHILLIE5 DRIVE, which would be a
permanent tribute to this outstanding baseball toam:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSlON OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REG ULARL Y ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That Stadium Drive between Seminole Street and Palmetto
Street be and the same is hereby renamed IlPHILLIES DRIVE",
Z. Thilt all resolutions or parts of reBolutions in conflict herewith
or inconsistent with the provisions of this resolution are hereby repealed
to the extent of their conflict.
3. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to record this resolution
in the Public Records of Pinellas County, Florida.
4. That this resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its adoption.
