RESOLUTION
No. 80 - 97
A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE VACATION OF A
POR TION OF GREENBRIAR BOULEVARD BETWEEN
LOTS 513 AND 461 IN GREENBRIAR UNIT 7 SUBDIVISION
AND URGING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO DEN,Y THE
PETITION FOR SUCH VACATION.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commiosioners of Pinellas County,
Florida, have receh:ed a petition requesting a portion of Greenbriar Boulevard,
adjacent to Belcher Road, be vacated: and
WHEREAS, the net effect of this vacation would be to control access
from Greenbriar Boulevard onto Belcher Road and would deny access through
the pl'blic road system in Greenbriar into the Counryside area; and
WHEREAS, the City and County subdivisions immediately South of
Greenbriar are provided emergency medical service from Fire Station #6
located in Countryside and if the current acceSS through Greenbriar would
be blocked, a circuitous route would have to be followed to reach those areas
costing precious time in emergency response; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater wishes
strongly urge the Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas County,
Florida, to deny the petition for the vacation of a portion of Greenbriar
Boulevard:
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED. AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater strongly urges the Board of County
Cqmmissioners of Pinellas County, Florida, to deny the petition for the
vacation of a portion of Greenbriar Boulevard between Lots 513 and 461
in Greenbriar Subdivision for the safety and welfare of the citizens of
the area.
