No. 80 - 11
A RESOLUTJ,ON OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE
PINELLAS COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION AND
THE FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIES TO SUPPOR T THE
LOCAL CODE ENFORCEMENT APPROACH EMBODIED
IN PREFILED HOUSE BILL 2.03.
WHEREAS, the various municipalities have experienced difficulty
in enforcing the various codes such as zoning, building and other technical
codes; and
WHEREAS. an alternative approach to that presently available through
the County COU1't system would be both desirable and more effective; and
WHEREAS. House Bill 203 providing for the creation of a code
enforcement board in each municipality provides the kind of alternative
approach that should be available to each municipality; and
WHEREAS. the City Commission of the City of Clearwater wishes
to urge the Pinellas County Leghlative Delegation and the Florida League
of Cities to support the alternative code enforcement approach contained
in House Bill 203;
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER. FLORIDA.
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEM.BLED. AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida.
wishes to go on record as urging the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation
and the Florida League of Cities to support House Bill 203 which would
permit municipalities to enforce their zoning. building and other technical
codes through the creation of a code enforcement board.
2. That copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Pinellas County
Legil'llative Delegation. the Florida League of Cities and the Mayor of
each municipality in Pinellas County.
